Legal Services for Students
As a student, you could face a wide range of potential legal issues during your academic journey. From housing disputes to employment contracts, understanding the law (and your rights) is essential. We provide legal services specifically tailored to help students navigate the complexities of the legal system. We can advise on your rights and responsibilities in different areas of law, including:
- landlord-tenant disputes,
- criminal citations,
- small claims court,
- car crashes and insurance,
- personal injury,
- powers of attorney, and
- consumer matters.
Our services are confidential, and free for students to use.
We also offers workshops and presentations for student groups and classes to explore legal issues before conflicts arise.

Consultations
Legal Services for Students offers free 30-minute consultations for all currently enrolled UT Austin students. During your consultation, an attorney will review your legal concerns, answer questions, explore possible options, and help identify next steps. While in-court representation isn't provided, referrals to outside legal resources are available when needed.
