Student Conduct Board
The Student Conduct Board is a group comprised of students appointed by the President to serve on Student Conduct Panels. When serving as a panelist, the Student Conduct Board member(s) provide an independent, peer viewpoint on potential misconduct violations.
Membership Requirements
All board members must, at the time of their application and for the whole of their term, remain in good academic and behavioral standing with the university.
All board members must, at the time of their application and for the whole of their term:
- maintain enrollment in at least nine hours of coursework for undergraduates or six hours of coursework for graduate students at UT Austin for each term, and
- maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered for membership.
Membership also requires a commitment to serving a one-year appointment. Board members may be eligible for a second appointment at the end of their first term.
Upon selection, board members will be required to meet the following expectations:
- Attend an onboarding training session,
- Attend mandatory training every fall semester,
- Attend at least three additional trainings and two social events over the course of an academic year,
- Maintain regular availability to serve on hearing panels, and
- Respond promptly to emails from staff and the Student Conduct Board chair or co-chair.

Application Components
The Student Conduct Board membership application process is divided into three parts:
- An online application,
- A completed reference form submitted on your behalf by a UT Austin faculty or staff member,
- An interview with our staff and current members of the Student Conduct Board.
