Purpose: Kappa Rho was founded in 2010 to bring women together who are interested in medicine and to give them the opportunity to explore that interest while meeting and making friends with people who have the same goals. Our goal is to create a medical society built upon the principles of leadership, academic excellence, service, community involvement, and a profound interest in the sciences.
Membership: Membership is limited to those who have completed the application and interview process.
Functions: Major activities undertaken by Kappa Rho include doctor shadowing, volunteering in local hospitals, and visiting medical schools. We also make it a priority to be active and informed in the campus and local Austin community, especially in health related issues. Kappa Rho Honors Society's chief interest is the preparation of its members to meet the challenges and experiences offered by competitive medical schools.

Each year, registered student organizations self-identify according to the following twelve categories:
- Educational/Departmental Organizations promote development in a particular academic area.
- Honorary Organizations recognize high-level academic achievement, and generally require a demonstrated interest in a particular career or academic discipline.
- International/Cultural Organizations foster cultural diversity and offer support to their members and the campus community.
- Legislative Student Organizations Graduate Student Assembly, Senate of College Councils and Student Government.
- Political Organizations support political parties, political issues and/or candidates who are seeking political office.
- Professional Organizations provide a preview of students' anticipated professional careers. Group activities may include speakers, field trips and volunteer or field work.
- Recreational Organizations promote sports-oriented programs and/or recreational activities.
- Religious Organizations serve as support for students of a particular religious persuasion or denomination.
- Service Organizations provide volunteers for on-campus and off-campus projects. Membership requirements generally include a commitment to work for and/or an interest in a particular cause.
- Social Organizations foster social networks among members.
- Special Interest Organizations focus on a specific issue or topic.
- Student Governance Organizations address student needs and express student views.
