Purpose: The Texas Sweethearts are a diverse group of young women dedicated to serving the Austin community and supporting University of Texas athletics. We strive to promote scholastic achievement, integrity, and leadership while fostering lifelong friendships among our Sweetheart sisters.
Membership: Texas Sweethearts recruits new members in both the fall and spring semesters. Membership is open to all female undergraduate students at the University of Texas at Austin. Please contact our current recruitment chair for more information.
Functions: The Texas Sweethearts are active members of both the University and the community. Our members volunteer weekly at our main philanthropy, the BeHive Austin, an after-school program in low-income Austin areas. Members also work weekly with Feed My People to serve breakfast to the homeless community and volunteer at large-scale events such as City Wide Hold Up, Race for the Cure, Relay for Life, Explore UT, Longhorn Halloween, Forty Acres Fest, and many, many more. We are proud to host our annual Dream Date auction during every fall semester to benefit our philanthropy, the BeHive. Sweethearts also hosts our own football, basketball, and baseball tailgates and participate in intramural sports throughout the semester. Additionally, we strive to build strong, lifelong friendships among our members through our various social events such as Big/Little, OU weekend trip to Dallas, Destination Unknown, Parents' Weekend, Winter Formal, Crush, Senior Call, Cocktail and Alumni Weekend.

Each year, registered student organizations self-identify according to the following twelve categories:
- Educational/Departmental Organizations promote development in a particular academic area.
- Honorary Organizations recognize high-level academic achievement, and generally require a demonstrated interest in a particular career or academic discipline.
- International/Cultural Organizations foster cultural diversity and offer support to their members and the campus community.
- Legislative Student Organizations Graduate Student Assembly, Senate of College Councils and Student Government.
- Political Organizations support political parties, political issues and/or candidates who are seeking political office.
- Professional Organizations provide a preview of students' anticipated professional careers. Group activities may include speakers, field trips and volunteer or field work.
- Recreational Organizations promote sports-oriented programs and/or recreational activities.
- Religious Organizations serve as support for students of a particular religious persuasion or denomination.
- Service Organizations provide volunteers for on-campus and off-campus projects. Membership requirements generally include a commitment to work for and/or an interest in a particular cause.
- Social Organizations foster social networks among members.
- Special Interest Organizations focus on a specific issue or topic.
- Student Governance Organizations address student needs and express student views.
