Purpose: Oxfam-UT is dedicated to finding and promoting lasting solutions to global poverty, hunger, and social injustice. We educate the student body about issues such as fair trade and extractive sectors as well as get active in the community to create lasting change.
Membership: There are no dues, so an active member is considered anyone who attends at least five meetings or events in a semester, including general meetings, action teams, and special events.
Functions: Our main events are Hunger Banquet (fall) and OxJam (Spring). Both increase awareness of global issues in a performance context. We also host films, speakers, debates, and rallies. Activism may include lobbying, exhibits, letter-writting, tabling, volunteerism, and other activities.
