Purpose: Students of the World (SOW) is a student-initiated organization that is dedicated to empowering college students to create digital media that shines a light on the progress happening in our community and around the globe. SOW believes that true appreciation of issues, causes, and global cultures is achieved through hands-on-participation in activities which directly reveal and affect global cultures.
Membership: All students are welcome.
Functions: A group of students travels to a foreign country and are hosted by local families. The students document their experience in order to present their new found knowledge to the community when they return.

Categories of UT Austin Registered Student Organizations
Each year, registered student organizations self-identify according to the following twelve categories:
- Educational/Departmental Organizations promote development in a particular academic area.
- Honorary Organizations recognize high-level academic achievement, and generally require a demonstrated interest in a particular career or academic discipline.
- International/Cultural Organizations foster cultural diversity and offer support to their members and the campus community.
- Legislative Student Organizations Graduate Student Assembly, Senate of College Councils and Student Government.
- Political Organizations support political parties, political issues and/or candidates who are seeking political office.
- Professional Organizations provide a preview of students' anticipated professional careers. Group activities may include speakers, field trips and volunteer or field work.
- Recreational Organizations promote sports-oriented programs and/or recreational activities.
- Religious Organizations serve as support for students of a particular religious persuasion or denomination.
- Service Organizations provide volunteers for on-campus and off-campus projects. Membership requirements generally include a commitment to work for and/or an interest in a particular cause.
- Social Organizations foster social networks among members.
- Special Interest Organizations focus on a specific issue or topic.
- Student Governance Organizations address student needs and express student views.
