Cases that present an immediate threat to self, others, or property should be considered an emergency and directed to the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD): 512-471-4441 or 911 (24 hours)

Overview
Student Emergency Services, in the Office of the Dean of Students, works with campus and community organizations to provide a number of services to assist students, and in some cases their families and friends, during an emergency or crisis situation. Our office does not provide counseling services.
Emergencies include (but are not limited to):
- Death of a student or former student
- Death of a relative
- Family emergency
- Attempted suicide
- Student injury or illness
- Interpersonal violence or stalking
- Sexual assault
- Missing student
- Apartment or house fire
- Natural disaster
- Financial problems
- Concerns about academic adjustment or performance
Services include (but are not limited to):
- Flag lowering ceremonies (current students only)
- Student absence notifications
- Outreach and advocacy for students
- Coordination with relevant U.T. Austin departments
- Limited emergency funds
- Short term emergency shelter (when available)
- General consultation
