Swing Out Awards - Frequently Asked Questions

How does my student organization become eligible for Swing Out Awards?

To be eligible to apply and win a Swing Out Award, registered and sponsored student organizations must be in good standing and update their HornsLink to be HornsLink Official.

When can I apply for the Swing Out Awards?

The Swing Out Awards application opens at 8 a.m. CT on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 and closes at 5 p.m. CT on Monday, February 28, 2022.

How many Swing Out Awards are there?

There are a total of 15 Swing Out Award categories. Nine Primary Categories and six Special Categories.

Can my organization apply for more than one Swing Out Award?

Yes, organizations can apply for more than one Swing Out Award but all organizations are required to apply for at least one Primary Category. Applying for additional awards is optional.

Where can I find descriptions of all the available Swing Out Award categories?

Descriptions can be found in the Award Categories page on this site.

When can my organization expect to be notified of finalist status?

Organizations will be notified of their Swing Out Award status via email in early April.

When are winners announced?

Finalists for Swing Out Awards will be invited to the Evening of the Stars awards ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Winners of each award will be announced at that time.

When will winners receive the banner and monetary prize?

Organizations will receive the Swing Out Awards banner during the Evening of the Stars awards ceremony. For payment, winning organizations are required to complete required payment forms in order to collect their monetary prize. Once the forms have been completed and processed, monetary prizes will be awarded via check to the organization as soon as possible. Student Activities will send a notification once the check is ready to pick up.
