Acts of Kindness (A-OK)The mission of Acts of Kindness is to uphold the ideal of selflessness by providing its members with opportunities to make a difference to the university campus and the Austin community through service and random acts of kindness. Through honest and genuine service, we hope to build character and leadership in our members so that they will become passionate, empathetic, and strong citizens.We will engage in community service, volunteering and other service projects. American Red Cross Club at The University of Texas at AustinThe American Red Cross Club at The University of Texas at Austin's mission is to provide American Red Cross services to the University of Texas at Austin's community and surrounding areas. Members deliver these services acting in accordance with the American Red Cross Code of Conduct, under the guidelines of the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and in collaboration with the American Red Cross of Central Texas.Club members will have the opportunity to obtain certification in various American Red Cross courses. The American Red Cross Club at UT Austin will focus on service projects for the UT community, such as a campus wide CPR training known as Mass CPR.

Best BuddiesBest Buddies UT strives to establish a global volunteer movement to create opportunities for one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and integrated employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.In Best Buddies UT, we match college students in mutually enriching friendships with individuals from the Austin community who have intellectual or developmental disabilities. Friendship pairs see each other twice a month, remain in weekly contact, and attend monthly group events. Group events range from holiday parties to karaoke nights.
Beta Kappa Gamma, Inc. - TAPCTo promote brotherhood, strength, academic excellence, and awareness among Asian men at The University of Texas at Austin through social activities, community service, and responsibility to the organization.Brotherhood, Knowledge, and Growth through numerous service projects, participation in various UT sponsored activities and interaction with a diversified group of organizations.
Biomedical Outreach and Leadership Team (BOLT)BOLT is a service organization for UT students that aims to make a positive change in the K-12 community by developing and implementing programs that promote higher education and stimulate interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in young students.We host and participate in various outreach events for children. Fore example, we participate in a program put on by the Girl Scouts organization call the Science Discovery program. At this even we run various booths where we do experiments and other hands on activities to hopefully teach the children something about science and spark their interest in the field.
Caring for CamoCaring for Camo is a student organization committed to helping currently deployed US troops by sending letters and care packages.We plan on holding meetings twice a month with the goal of planning our collection drives. Our primary goal is to send as many letters and care packages as possible to the troops. In order to collect letters and goods we will table around campus and at various location in the Austin community. We also plan on selling merchandise throughout campus and online including T-Shirts, Wristbands, and other various products in order to raise money to pay for care packages. We will also hold partnership events with local businesses in order to help raise money. 100% of all proceeds will go directly to helping the Troops.

Contagious SmilesWe aspire to bring smiles to those in need by dedicating quality time and creating numerous activities that are fun and memorable! We are a service organization that primarily works with young children. Our goal is to connect UT students to opportunities to give back to the community. We provide the networking and tools to enable students to reach out and make a difference to the lives of young children.We work with many children who are undergoing difficult situations, such as being ill or underprivileged. Within our own group of students, many long-term friendships have been created. We provide a community where members work together and are able to do what they do best, making huge contributions to children in need.
Cooperative Pharmacy Student AssociationThe purpose of CPSA is to: 1. Participate in community services involving pharmacy health care, disease awareness, and educational programs geared toward the promotion of a healthier community at The University of Texas Pan-American (UTPA) and in the Rio Grande Valley. 2. Assist in the recruitment and retention of qualified students into the Cooperative Pharmacy program and pharmacy profession. Strengthen the relationship between pharmacy students and all pre-pharmacy students. 3. Enrich the leadership skills, organizational involvement, and professional development of members. 4. Delete Blood Cancer-DKMS Longhorn ChapterTo host at least one bone marrow swabbing drive on campus and/or in the community during each academic semester.DKMS will work with the international DKMS bone marrow registry in order to host swabbing drives, which are intended to register participants in the national bone marrow matching registry. Swabbing is completely optional, and is painless, requiring only a quick wipe of the inside of a participant's cheek.
Dell Scholars Program at the University of Texas at AustinThe Dells Scholars Program has three goals: (1) to give personal support, (2) obtain professional development, and (3) to give back to the community. These goals are achieved by (1) connecting with other scholars, balancing life and school, (2) knowing ones personal brand, having a career plan, (3) giving back with the scholar community and the community at large.We will hold community service activities planned for the semester, hold meetings to get updates on projects assigned to the members, and have lunch/dinner gatherings.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - NPHCThe purpose of our sisterhood is to impact communities and transform lives through our commitment to public service. While sisterhood is the core of our sorority, we also strive to attain the highest levels of scholastic excellence. The major programs of the sorority are based upon our organizations Five Point Programmatic Thrust; which consists of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, Political Awareness and Involvement. Ultimately, we are a sisterhood called to serve.A few of our programs consist of Ice Breaker, our annual step show that showcases the beauty of African American Greek culture. We also host an annual Women's Retreat, a weekend retreat designed to help develop the mind, body, and spirit of females on UT's campus. Other programs include Delta Area Rapid Transit (DART), a program specifically catered to benefit incoming freshman without transportation, providing them with a ride to obtain groceries and household goods. The Epsilon Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. also provides a series of self-defense classes for students, to ensure that members of the community know how to defend themselves in dangerous situations. FACE AIDS Austin FACE AIDS Austin is about uniting our efforts as students for a greater cause. A cause that has affected every dimension of life. FACE AIDS was founded in 2005 by three Standford Students and it has grown to over 210 chapters across the U.S. in colleges and high-schools. We as students and members of FACE AIDS Austin are apart of movement of mobilized youth to create change, raise awareness, and help eradicate the HIV/AIDS epidemic. FACE AIDS Austin has two main events that we host annually, World AIDS Week and Condom Couture. World AIDS Week is a week-long event raising awareness about AIDS and commemorating those who've been affected by HIV/AIDS.Condom Couture is a fashion show that aims to recognize and provoke thought about gender inequity, global health, and HIV/AIDS. This fashion show entices student participation by challenging designers to create outfits out of condoms. Additionally, we table to sell pins created in Rwanda, and volunteer in the Austin community.

Global Architecture BrigadesGlobal Architecture Brigades is an organization dedicated to research, design, and construction of socially responsible and environmentally sustainable solutions in developing nations.Global Architecture Brigades conducts 2 annual trips to communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, and Ghana for the design and construction of sustainable architecture.
Global Environmental Brigades Austin ChapterTo empower students to promote sustainable solutions in rural communities in Panama in order to reverse degradation and preserve the natural environment through reforestation, sustainable agriculture, wate management, and educational programs.Volunteers travel to rural Panama a couple times each year to participate in environmental brigades. The rest of the year, members participate in fundraisers, workshops, socials, and local volunteer events.
Global Human Rights Brigades AustinTo mobilize students to empower rural communities in Panama to overcome obstacles that impede access to justice through legal council and educational workshops.Volunteers travel to rural Panama a couple times each year to participate in human rights brigades. Global Medical TrainingTo offer healthcare students the opportunity to obtain first hand medical experience while providing free basic medical services to communities in Central America and Mexico. We aim to make the experience as easy as possible for new trippers. Global Public Health Brigades at The University of Texas at AustinTo empower Honduran communities to prevent common illnesses through in home infrastructural development, community leader training, and health education.Once or twice a year, during winter, summer, or spring break, a group of volunteers travel to Honduras on public health brigades, we spend seven days in-country and serve rural communities.

Helping HandsThe purpose of Helping Hands is to support educational opportunities and promote healthy living conditions by contributing financial support and supplies to underprivileged schools and orphanages in China and Southeast Asia.The organization fundraises for underprivileged schools in Southeast Asia such as the BoAi School in China. We provide medical supplies and hygienic products for target schools. We have annual trips to China and Cambodia to promote the correct use of these products and help provide medical awareness.
Helping Hornz INACTIVEWe exist to provide Longhorns an opportunity to give back to the community around them. We are a solely service-based organization dedicated to making the world a better place, with members who are role models and passionate servant leaders. Our mission is simply "to create positive change" in our local community and beyond, and our motto is "changing community, one at a time."We want to participate in already established volunteer activities, such as Relay for Life, Adopt-a-Kiosk, Waller Creek Clean-up, as well as create new ones. We have begun a partnership with Ridgetop Elementary School to mentor its students. The mentorship program is currently our focus for community outreach. We are always receptive to new ideas.

HOPE AustinHOPE Austin is a service based organization that seeks to provide health outreach volunteer opportunities for students at the University of Texas at Austin. We are a group committed to health related volunteering that seeks to promote health awareness and to provide aid on campus as well as in the Austin community.HOPE Austin routinely volunteers with local organizations such as The Care Communities. Breast Cancer Resource Center, People's Community Clinic, the Special Olympics, etc. We also host health fairs in the North Austin area and have a budding partnership with Seton's University Medical Center at Brackenridge.

Investing for Heroes INACTIVETo educate fellow students on the importance of investing in the stock market while donating the proceeds to charities that aid U.S. troops.A month and a half into the semester, the club will meet to democratically decide which stock to invest in and democratically decide what price to "sell" or in our case donate to the charity. Sponsors (in the works) will provide guest lectures periodically to further the education of members.
It's Time Texas - Longhorn ChapterThe purpose of this organization is to enjoy and share healthy lifestyles with the university of Texas and the Austin community as a whole. UT students will be a part of a social and service that celebrates and supports healthy communities in an all-inclusive, fun way.The students will take part in health events each month, as well as conduct one major service project per semester.
K V R X Student RadioKVRX, the student radio station at UT, broadcasts at night on 91.7FM and streams online 24/7. Students can learn about music, production, recording, and do a show ranging from specialty genres to talk shows. We also host and sponsor concerts and review shows. Hosting events and meetings on campus, doing remote broadcasts, and organizing concerts around town. We discuss and review music and train students and set them up with their own weekly radio shows.

Learn To BeLTB at UT Austin is to support the mission of the Learn To Be Foundation, which is to provide free online tutoring and academic resources to underserved communities. We aim to find interested students and staff at UT to tutor students in 4th - 8th grade nationwide through an online one-on-one setting using interactive audiovisuals and a virtual whiteboard. Most of these students access Learn To Be through their school's computer lab and cannot afford traditional tutoring.The staff at the UT Chapter continuously refer members of the UT community and beyond to apply to become Learn To Be certified tutors. Members of the Outreach and Public Relations (OPR) Committee find schools in the area that fit our mission to partner with the Learn To Be network. Texas Baseball Diamond CrewThe purpose of Texas Baseball Diamonds is to support the UT Baseball team while upholding our 3 pillars of Spirit, Social, and Service. Our organization creates lasting friendships while supporting the baseball team and assisting the baseball office with events. TBDC supports the University of Texas Baseball through game attendance, good luck cards, and locker room banners. TBDC assists the Baseball Office and the helps out at the field during games. TBDC has a number of philanthropy and social events throughout the year, and are also members of the Texas Athletics Council.

Texas Challah For HungerChallah for hunger raises money and awareness for hunger and disaster relief, through the production and sale of challah bread.Each week we will braid Challah as well as make the dough, the next day we will bake and sell the bread. In addition, during tabling we will inform and educate on issues in sudan and local hunger.
Texas Connects INACTIVEWe are dedicated to serving the people of the Austin community, particularly children who are underprivileged, abused, neglected, develop mentally disabled, and/or first generation. We want to serve as role models to encourage young people to make good decisions for the rest of their lives.In the past, as a part of the Student Volunteer Board, we have volunteered at the Be Well Walk Austin 2012 to raise money for obesity, Longhorn Halloween, cafeteria makeover at Lamar Middle School, Eastside Community Center, Project 2012, and the Ziller Park Kite Festival.

Our goal is to foster a community of intellectual activism that seeks to improve the declining quality of education for low-income students in Texas high schools.We will offer a free one-week philosophy and debate workshop to high school students in Texas during the summer.

Texas Global Water Brigades INACTIVETo empower rural Honduran communities to prevent common illness through the supply of clean and sufficient amounts of water. Also to educate the community about the importance of clean and sufficient water as it relates to improving health.We will host fundraising events to raise money for volunteers to go on a trip(s) once or twice a year to a rural Honduran community to aid in the supply of clean water. We will also host community service events to raise awareness, and gain support for the supply of clean and sufficient water in under-developed communities.
Texas HelpsTo give back to the Austin community we live in. Our primary focus right now is working with Be Hive to help bond and tutor at-risk elementary age youth.Texas Helps is heavily committed to giving back to the Austin community. Currently we are partnering with Be Hive to provide volunteers to their afternoon homework help program; however we are open to other exciting volunteer opportunities as well.
Texas Infinites"Our name defines our thoughts and capabilities which transcends unselfish service, and encourages a true commitment to every endeavor we embark on." The Texas Infinites is a high spirited CO-ED organization that provides a wide range of services to our surrounding community. Our goal is to give back to the community of Austin by supporting Feed My People, Habitat for Humanity, and Honduras Global Brigade. We plan to support all of UT's athletics, as well as host many social events.
Texas Interdisciplinary Plan Community OutreachMembers of TIPCO devote their time and energy volunteering at various Austin organizations. TIPCO has two primary goals: to make a significant difference in our city over time and to foster the ethic of service in each other.Activities promoted by TIPCO will have the primary purpose of serving the community and the secondary purpose of building a cohesive and supportive group.
Texas Invisible Children Student ChapterThe purpose of the Texas Invisible Children Student Chapter is to raise awareness of the atrocities committed by the Lord's Resistance Army in Africa and to raise money to put a permanent end to their acts and to bring child soldiers home. Texas LassosTexas Lassos shall be classified as a service organization at the University of Texas in Austin. The organization shall strive to promote spirit, service, and social activities to all members while fostering friendship, leadership and cooperation to the University and community.As a registered service organization: special olympics, SURE walk, UT interactive, Project 1000, Orange Santa, and Easter Seals (Hold Up) Spirit: each member is required to attend at least 2 games of choice per month. Social: mixers with other UT organizations, casual, formal dates dashes, private parties, and big/little sister events.
Texas Law FellowshipsTo provide funding for students who want to work for non-profit organizations during the summer.Each year we have a Fall Auction which raises money through a live and silent auction. Items are donated by local businesses and law school professors. In the spring we have the Excellence in Public Interest Awards which honors attorneys from both the public and private sector for their work in the public interest. Our largest event is the Sprin g Pledge Drive, which occurs the week before and after Spring Break. A t this time we raise the majority of our money and decide which fellow ship proposals will be funded.
Texas LonestarsTexas Lonestars is a group of women at UT dedicated to the pillars of service, spirit and sisterhood. Each year, the Lonestars contribute hundreds of hours to community service events. The Lonestars truly bleed burnt orange! Whether it be cheering on the Horns from their group seats at football games, marching in the OU Parade, or playing intramural sports, Lonestars have spirit in every sense of the word. Lonestars is more than just an extra curricular activity- its a family. And this close-knit organization provides a home away from home for its members.The Texas Lonestars participate in many service, spirit and social events throughout the year. Texas SpiritsTo promote spirit among the students of the The University of Texas and to serve the university and the Austin community in the best way possible. Our four pillars of spirit, love, service,and friendship represent the core values Texas Spirits strive to uphold each and everyday.Texas Spirits is an honorary spirt, service, and social organization founded in 1941. We are recognized by the burnt orange scarves we wear around our necks. We are one of the oldest spirit groups on campus and take pride in our traditions like painting the drag shop windows for upcoming UT events each week. Our annual philanthropy is a concert we host called Band Jam. All funds raised are donated to the Make A Wish Foundation and St. Louise House.

Texas SweetheartsThe Texas Sweethearts are a diverse group of young women dedicated to serving the Austin community and supporting University of Texas athletics. We strive to promote scholastic achievement, integrity, and leadership while fostering lifelong friendships among our Sweetheart sisters.The Texas Sweethearts are active members of both the University and the community. Our members volunteer weekly at our main philanthropy, the BeHive Austin, an after-school program in low-income Austin areas. Members also work weekly with Feed My People to serve breakfast to the homeless community and volunteer at large-scale events such as City Wide Hold Up, Race for the Cure, Relay for Life, Explore UT, Longhorn Halloween, Forty Acres Fest, and many, many more. We are proud to host our annual Dream Date auction during every fall semester to benefit our philanthropy, the BeHive. Sweethearts also hosts our own football, basketball, and baseball tailgates and participate in intramural sports throughout the semester. Additionally, we strive to build strong, lifelong friendships among our members through our various social events such as Big/Little, OU weekend trip to Dallas, Destination Unknown, Parents' Weekend, Winter Formal, Crush, Senior Call, Cocktail and Alumni Weekend.
Texas THONTexas THON is a student-run philanthropy at The University of Texas that raises awareness and funds for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas, right here in Austin.Students can apply to be a committee member.
Texas Wrangler DarlinsTexas Wrangler Darlins is an organization bound by sisterhood, driven by service, and unparalleled in spirit. We are the only organization with a brother group, the Texas Wranglers. We unite every kind of woman with the aim of changing our community and altering ourselves through service and spirit. Embedded in each of us are the qualities that make a strong leader, devotion, kindness, loyalty, determination, and grace. We are a group of individuals move as one toward a common goal: unity in service, sisterhood, and spirit.The Texas Wrangler Darlins participate in over 75 hours of community service a semester. Our many service events include Kickball with Kids, Texas Wrangler City Wide Hold Up, and Feed the Firefighters. We also participate in many spirit events on campus joining the Texas Wrangler football and basketball tailgates. In Spring 2011, we are going to be holding our first philanthropy event to support the Ride On Center for Kids, a therapeutic riding center for children with disabilities.

The Green SocietyThe purpose of the Green Society is to provide a platform for students and the LBJ School community to explore sustainability in the context of policy development and analysis. We work with other organizations to conduct events and programs related to environmentalism and sustainability.We collaborate with others to offer brown bag discussions related to various aspects of sustainability and sponsor programs like the LBJ building recycling and Green Dining. Thurgood Marshall Legal SocietyTo diagnose and treat problems of Black students seeking a legal education; improve the academic and social climate in Austin for Black law students; aprise the Black community of the need for more and better Black attorneys; work with other organizations which also see the need for more Black attorneys in America.Working within the boundaries of our stated purpose, the members of Thurgood Marshall have in recent years directed our activities toward providing a comfortable social and academic environment for the Black law student.
