Financial Information

<-- back

It is important for students and their support systems (parents, guardians, and families) to be as informed as possible regarding the costs associated with sorority membership. The University Panhellenic Council is committed to financial transparency and educating potential members about financial obligations and affordability.

The range of membership dues and fees (below) is available year-round and is updated each August. Additionally, each August all students registered for recruitment are provided a chapter-by-chapter breakdown with most up to date information on dues and fees. During formal recruitment, a potential member should ask sorority members about financial obligations and payment options as each sorority sets its own fees and housing costs as well as the payment schedules.

Required Fees

Chapter fees fund various activities of the organization such as academic programs, service activities, alumni and parent events, national dues and lifetime membership. The ranges below reflect semester dues, room, and board information.

Affordability and Assistance

After a student receives a bid to membership: Most chapters at The University of Texas at Austin offer payment plans and scholarships for members who need financial assistance. Please note that when you become a new member of a sorority, you are affiliating with that organization. If at any time you decide to disaffiliate, you may still be held responsible for fees or payments required to fulfill your contract with the organization.

New Member Dues Grant Program: The council is excited to announce a new program, the New Member Dues Grant. The grant was created with the goal of removing the financial barrier that prevents potential new members from participating in formal recruitment and joining a Panhellenic organization at The University of Texas at Austin. The grant recipient will receive funding for dues and fees for up to four years of membership. One grant will be awarded this year. Applications for New Member Dues Grant close on July 16th, 2021 and the recipient will be notified the first week of August. Learn more about qualifications and access the application.
