Veteran and Military Undergraduate Admissions Information
We are happy that you are interested in attending The University of Texas at Austin. Admission to the university is a highly competitive process. While no special consideration is given for military or veteran status, the Office of Admissions uses an individualized, holistic review process to consider each completed application.
You will find the most up-to-date admissions information on the Office of Admissions website. We encourage you to visit their website for detailed admission information and requirements.
Preparing to Apply
- Freshman - Freshman applications are restricted to students who have not enrolled at another college or university after graduating from high school or earning a GED. If you have started your post-secondary studies at another college or university, you must apply for transfer admission and meet the transfer admission requirements (have or will have earned 24 semester hours of required transferable coursework).
Transfer - To qualify as a transfer student, you must have been enrolled at a college, university, or online institution since graduating from high school. Transfer applicants must have or will have earned 24 semester hours of required transferable coursework.
If you are applying from another college or university in Texas, please use the Automated Transfer Equivalency System to check if your credits will transfer.
More information about the evaluation of the Joint Services Transcript (JST) and the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript is available on the Office of Admissions' Military Training and Experience webpage. CLEP, and dual credit(s) from high school courses do not count as college credit for transfer purposes.
If you do not have or will not have earned 24 semester hours, you are ineligible to apply as either a Freshman or Transfer applicant.
