The Project

The Project is the University of Texas at Austin's largest single day of student service. This annual university-wide event is marking its 25th year of helping thousands of students, faculty, and staff connect with different Austin neighborhoods. The Project is organized and run by Volunteerism and Service Learning (VSL) and marks the culmination of a partnership between VSL and the selected neighborhood's community leaders.

Event Information

Come together on November 2nd at The Project, UT Austin's largest day of service! Started in 1999, The Project is an annual, university-wide event that unites the Longhorn community with local neighborhood residents for impactful volunteer work in Austin. On Project Day, volunteers rally to address critical needs in local neighborhoods, focusing on activities supporting education, sustainability, beautification, and other community priorities.

Other interested groups should contact us at UTVSL@austin.utexas.edu.

Community Partner Steering Committee

Each neighborhood that becomes a Project partner has its own unique history, centers of activity, and goals. A steering committee is formed for each cycle of The Project, made up of residents, city and corporate partners, and Project planning committee members. Meeting regularly from March to November, the group creates connections and sets up projects across the neighborhood to be completed on Project Day.

To join the steering committee or nominate your neighborhood for a future Project, contact us at UTVSL@austin.utexas.edu.

Support Us

The Project is made possible by individuals and groups who give time, talent, in-kind product, and monetary donations. Our entire operating budget of approximately $60,000 comes from these donors. Support The Project.
