Student Service Award
This award recognizes dedication in UT students who have made significant contributions to The University of Texas, the City of Austin, or communities worldwide through their work as volunteers and leaders. These individuals show dedication, initiative, and a continued passion for service.
The application for the spring 2024 scholarship is open from January 16 to February 16 at 11:55 p.m.
Scholarship Awards
Scholarships of a minimum of $1000 were awarded in 2023.

Scholarship Criteria
- Student must be currently enrolled in residence at The University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate student.
- Student must have completed four (4) long semesters at The University of Texas at Austin.
- Student must have demonstrated a commitment to The University of Texas at Austin and to the surrounding community through volunteer work.
- Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
- Student cannot be on disciplinary probation or deferred suspension.
- Must have a letter of recommendation submitted by a supervisor or staff member for whom student provided service.
Application Questions
These questions will be asked in the application. It is recommended that applicants prepare answers in a word document in advance to avoid the application timing out.
- What organizations (on and off-campus) have you volunteered with? How much time, and with what frequency do you volunteer with the organization(s) or event(s)?
- How have those experiences shaped your dedication to service?
- What have you gained from your experience as a volunteer? Why do you believe it is important to be involved in the community and to improve it?
- Discuss the two most important contributions you have made as a student volunteer and how these accomplishments have positively impacted current and future students at The University of Texas at Austin. (100 word minimum)
- Please upload a letter of recommendation submitted by a current or former supervisor or staff member for whom you provided volunteer work.
