When applying for admission to the University, the two options available to most incoming student veterans are traditional freshman admissions or transfer admissions. The majority of our student veterans are admitted as transfer students.
Please note, students using federal educational benefits are eligible for in-state tuition rates.
To qualify as a transfer student, you must have taken courses or a single course at a college, university, online institution or at the Defense Language Institute. The minimum requirement to apply as a transfer student is 30 transferable credit hours, and a 3.0 GPA. Visit Transfer Admissions for requirements and deadlines.
We recommend you include your military transcripts when applying for admission, though some credits may not apply. If you are also applying from another college or university in Texas, please use the Automated Transfer Equivalency System to check if your credits will transfer.
If you are a veteran who has graduated high school and not previously enrolled in a college, university, online institution or at the Defense Language Institute to complete courses, you are considered a freshman. Visit Freshman Admissions for requirements and deadlines.
