Student Assistant (Sorority and Fraternity Life)

Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) provides support services, leadership opportunities and educational programs that assist sorority and fraternity councils and chapters in developing values-based organizations. It is our goal to develop and implement programs, workshops, training sessions and course instruction to collaborate and build partnerships that promote multiculturalism, diversity, social justice and social responsibility education for the Office of the Dean of Students.

Purpose of position:

Provide administrative support to the Administrative Associate, Coordinators of Greek Life, Associate Director, Assistant Dean of Students and Senior Associate Dean of Students within the Office of the Dean of Students.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform clerical duties, including data entry and filing
  • Provide customer service to individuals both in person and via telephone
  • Distribute mail and process mail outs
  • Assist with organization grade reports
  • Manage confidential information
  • Reliable and punctual attendance
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled at UT Austin
  • Experience providing quality customer service in a high traffic environment
  • Ability to multi-task while assisting with area reception
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and university staff
  • Enthusiasm, dependability, flexibility and self motivated
  • WORK-STUDY STATUS REQUIRED

Student Government Student Assistants (Legislative Student Organizations)

Student Government serves as the official student voice to the UT Austin administration, the Board of Regents and the Texas Legislature. Student Government represents students on a variety of issues, including campus life, student services and academics.

Student Government Student Assistants work in an exciting, active, student-run office. Student Assistants assist Office of the Dean of Students' staff and the Student Government Executive Board with a wide variety of duties, including running errands, answering phones, clerical work, data entry, working with copiers, tabling and event set-up, working with mail and conducting research.

Student Government Student Assistant positions are available to work-study students only.


Student Organization Center Student Assistant (Student Activities)

The Student Organization Center (SOC) serves as a point of contact for registered student organizations at The University of Texas at Austin. SOC staff answer questions and provide information.

The SOC seeks outgoing, enthusiastic individuals who are dependable, flexible and detail oriented. Applicants must be self-motivated learners, excellent problem solvers and must be customer oriented. The ability to communicate effectively with students and university staff is essential. Applicants must be currently enrolled at UT Austin, have experience providing quality customer service in a high traffic environment, have a strong attention to detail, and MUST have work-study status.

Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Clerical duties, including data entry and filing
  • Providing customer service, in person and via the telephone
  • Assisting with appointment scheduling for Student Activities administrators
  • Exceptional multitasking skills while working the front reception area
  • Proper handling of monetary transactions
  • Providing directions in the Student Services Building
  • Reliable, punctual attendance at the workplace
  • Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required
  • Other duties as assigned
