Apply for the 2012-2013 Student Conduction Advisory Committee

Background

With only six positions available, selection to the SCAC is a distinctive honor for any UT Austin student. The SCAC is seeking students from across the campus community who are genuinely committed to insuring that the student body lives by the principles espoused in the University's Honor Code. As providers of the peer perspective on matters of students conduct and academic integrity at The University of Texas at Austin, SCAC members must demonstrate an interest in the university's conduct system and be able to: (a) provide feedback and guidance concerning conduct-related matters to the Office of the Dean of Students, (b) engage in educational outreach to students, faculty, and staff, and (c) communicate new and innovative ways to increase student awareness of and involvement in the UT Austin conduct system.

Membership Requirements

All SCAC members must be currently enrolled students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Members must also be able to attend the regularly scheduled committee meetings that will typically occur every other week and last approximately 1.5 hours. Because the SCAC is committed to insuring that the membership reflects the diversity of opinions held by various campus constituencies, students who have previously participated in the University's conduct process are encouraged to apply. Committee members are selected in the spring semester and serve a one-year appointment that runs through the fall and spring of the following academic year. Selected students are eligible to serve more than one year.

Instructions

The SCAC membership application process is divided into two parts:

  1. A written application.
  2. After a panel of committee members reviews the written applications and essays, selected applicants will be invited to participate in an in-person interview with current members of the committee.
