Sponsored Organizations
Sponsored Student Organizations are registered student organizations that have a close relationship with a university department. Sponsorship requires support, endorsement, supervision, and the assumption of responsibility for the actions and activities of the sponsored organization. Sponsorship may not be extended to groups involved in political or religious activities or in projects for private gain.
Registered student organizations that are interested in becoming sponsored by a department are welcome to stop by Student Activities and Leadership Development (SALD) to discuss sponsorship with a Student Affairs Administrator. There are many benefits to becoming a Sponsored Student Organization, including a close relationship with a college or department, use of the university name and trademarks, and the guidance of an advisor.
In order to be sponsored by The University of Texas at Austin, an organization must complete the following steps:
- Obtain a Sponsorship Form, available online or from the SOC.
- Obtain the endorsement of a department or agency of the university, and approval of the advisor and appropriate dean.
- Submit the Sponsorship Form to SALD with the appropriate signatures. The form will be reviewed and forwarded to the Vice President of Student Affairs for consideration.
- Renew sponsorship annually at the beginning of the Spring semester by resubmitting Sponsorship Form to SALD.
