The board serves two functions: to provide student leaders a hands-on learning environment for the development of their leadership skills and to serve as a resource to UT students and campus organizations by providing events and activities that foster student leadership.

Are you an outstanding student leader at The University of Texas at Austin? Do you want to make a difference on campus as a leader?

We invite you to become a member of The University of Texas Leadership Board (UTLB)! Student Activities & Leadership Development is looking for motivated, qualified individuals who view UTLB as a top priority. A UTLB Board Member should be intelligent and adaptable, possessing demonstrated leadership abilities. A desire to contribute to The University of Texas at Austin is essential.

Please complete the UTLB New Member application and remember to check your e-mail for an invitation to interview with us April 4 - 6, 2008.

Please feel free to contact any members of the Board with questions. All UTLB e-mail addresses are posted on the SALD About UTLB page. The UTLB office is in SSB 4.102E. Evelina Solis, advisor, is located on the 4th floor of the Student Services Building (SSB) in the Student Activities & Leadership Development area of the Office of the Dean of Students, SSB 4.104.

You may turn in completed applications at the SOC desk on the 4th floor of the Student Services Building (SSB). Applications are due at Noon Friday, February 29, 2008. Late applications will not be accepted!

Swing Out!

Attention Student Leaders!!!

The time is approaching for the Swing Out Awards!! The Swing Outs are awards given by Student Activities & Leadership Development and The University of Texas Leadership Board to student organizations that have demonstrated excellence in leadership on campus. Organizations can apply to different categories that the feel best fits their student group. Award winners will be recognized at the Evening of the Stars ceremony on Friday, April 18, 2008 at the Belmont Centennial Room in the Stadium. Additionally, below, please find important dates concerning the application process.

Information Sessions

Organizations MUST send at least ONE authorized representative to an informational sessions listed below in order to be considered for the Swing Outs. The dates and times are as follows:

Categories

Each organization must apply for one of the 9 primary categories: Academic/Departmental, Cultural, Political/Activist, Professional, Recreational, Artistic, Service, Social, and Spirit. In addition, there are 3 Special Categories: Best New, Most Improved, and Most Outstanding. Organizations may choose what category to apply under. They must apply for only one primary category and may apply for any or all of the 3 special categories. The category an organization applies for should reflect the strengths and accomplishments members feel their organization has demonstrated in that year. Referring to the separate category questions in the application may help determine how to best present an organization.
