University of Texas Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI)

LEI Overview

The Leadership and Ethics Institute is a centralized and comprehensive program focused on leadership training for enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. The Institute offers an array of experiential opportunities for students that incorporate both theoretical and practical ethical leadership development. The purpose of LEI is to prepare the next generation of individuals to act responsibly, to improve the quality of student life, and to serve the communities in which they live, study and work.

LEI is open to all students that are studying in any academic college, school, or unit. We design the opportunity for students to learn about themselves, to have an impact on campus life and to provide peer development opportunities for fellow students.

LEI Structure

LEI is a rapidly growing multi-tiered leadership initiative coordinated by Student Activities and Leadership Development (SALD), a unit of the Office of the Dean of Students. It is comprised of full-time professional staff, an Executive Board selected from previous LEI participants and an Executive Committee comprised of students selected based on prior leadership experience. The Executive Board collaborates with the Executive Committee and professional staff to support LEI initiatives. The Executive Committee also coordinates programmatic initiatives of the Institute.
