General Purpose Classrooms

General purpose classrooms may be reserved by registered student organizations by filling out the online room application form. Applications are accepted beginning on the first working day in May at 8:00 a.m. for the Summer and Fall semesters and on the first working day in December at 8:00 a.m. for the Spring semester. Only online form applications will be accepted. Rooms are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Please note that there is a $5.00 per room per day fee for general purpose classrooms used on the weekends between 5:00 p.m. Friday and 7:00 a.m. Monday. These fees are payable at the SOC counter (4th floor SSB) on or before the first date of the specific reservation.

If a weekend room reservation is cancelled 2 working days in advance, a refund may be requested. The Room Change/Cancellation Form must be filled out and turned in to the SOC counter to begin this process.

General purpose classrooms are offered to student organizations only after all courses, departmental reservations, extension classes, Texas Union Informal Classes, etc., have been booked. This limits the available space on campus for student organizations because student organizations are the last group on campus allowed to make reservations in these rooms each semester. The Student Services Building is currently the only building in which student organizations are priority users. We will do our best to accommodate your organization, but please understand that we have limited general purpose classroom space available for room assignments.

Please check the general purpose classroom list to see if the room that you are requesting is on it. These lists are also available in the SOC lobby area, 4th floor SSB.

Please be aware that most miscellaneous rooms in buildings across campus may not be available to student organizations. Most of these rooms are controlled by the College or Dean's office in that particular area, such as the third floor cohort rooms in the Graduate School of Business and the CBA Atrium. The Texas Union, Student Services Building, and Recreational Sports areas have their own reservation process and separate form that they use for reservations. All forms for these areas are available in the lobby area of the SOC, 4th floor of the SSB. The Texas Union also has an online form available. For all other miscellaneous rooms, refer to the building itself or Dean's office as mentioned above that is affiliated with the specific area of campus you are interested in.
