Food Distribution

If your student organization is planning on bringing a caterer or if you will be serving potentially hazardous food on campus, you must first obtain permission from the Office of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). A valid permit signed by EHS must be present at the event where catered or potentially hazardous food is being served. Potentially hazardous food is food that if handled or prepared improperly can cause a food borne illness.

Your organization does not need to submit any forms for food that is not potentially hazardous. Examples of food that do not require submission of forms: candy, soda, chips, bake sale items (e.g., cake, cookies, brownies).

Disciplinary action can result for organizations that do not comply with food policies. For questions about the food policy, please contact EHS at 471-3511.

Food permits are available online or from the Service Building, Room 202.

Please remember that anytime your student organization is serving food at an event or meeting on campus you are responsible for cleaning the area or room and disposing of all trash outside of the building.
