African American Nursing Student AssociationThe purpose of the African American Nursing Student Association is to increase the number of minority students at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing by providing academic and social support. We seek to provide and increase the number of minority nurses correlation with the upward trend of the minority population in Texas and the U.S.AANSA holds monthly meetings to network with peers, mentorship, academic advising and tutoring. We volunteer with several health care opportunities (i.e. Flu Clinics, Cancer Walks), low performing high schools, and shelters. AANSA also conduct fundraising events approximately 2-3 times a semester.
AIESEC-Austin (Assn. of Stu. in Economics & Commerce)AIESEC is an international, student-run, non-profit that works to break down cultural barriers and assumptions by facilitating an exchange program that allows students to experience other cultures first hand. American Marketing Assn, Collegiate Chapter (AMA)The AMA tries to promote an atmosphere for the college student of marketing related concepts and ideas through speakers from various organizations; such as, retail firms, marketing research firms, and other various organizations.AMA hosts meetings and events that provide opportunities for members to expand their knowledge of marketing as well as to network with potential employers and fellow classmates. American Medical Student Association - Pre-medFounded in 1996, AMSA Pre-Med represents the undergraduate branch of the American Medical Student Association which has chapters in medical schools all across the country. We serve as a link between UT students interested in medicine and practicing physicians from various specialties. AMSA maintains and offers to its members an important social network that has experience with applying to medical school, preparing for the MCAT, and taking classes at UT.Our organization offers several volunteer, social, and doctor shadowing opportunities throughout the year. In the past, we have volunteered at everything from Austin City Limits to a kite festival. Our social events range from getting ice cream to playing paintball. We also plan an annual spring break trip to a foreign country, such as Nicaragua or Costa Rica, to provide medical care to those that cannot afford it.

American Society of Civil EngineersASCE plans and carries out activities aimed at improving the professional awareness of students. ASCE provides great revenues for students to meet and work together outside of class. ASCE acts as a link between academic and professional worlds.ASCE participates in the Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe competitions, social events such as Fridays in the Park and camping, outreach events such as Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at the Austin Children's Museum and intramural sports. Ampersand INACTIVEAmpersand is an umbrella organization containing a student chapter of the International Interior Design Assoc.(IIDA) and a student chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The focus of the organization is to provide a link between education and real world experience. Often a university education cannot give students an idea of what exactly occurs in the business of Interior Design. The name Ampersand comes from this idea of joining experiences and activities. It is the combination of education and work experience.Ampersand will be based on events and lectures. Individuals in the field in Interior Design, architecture, graphic design, and industrial design will speak and share experiences and projects with students. We will take trips to design-related showrooms, tour design firms in and around Austin, and visit project sites, both under construction and complete. These activities will be accompanied by attending each monthly event of both the ASID Austin professional chapter and the IIDA Austin professional chapter.
Architectural Engineering InstituteTo enable architectural engineering students to exchange ideas about their future professions. Sociability is developed throughout the semester at meetings and activities allow members to meet and learn to 1066ract effectively. Responsibility is developed through each pro- ject and commitment that is undertaken by the members involved. Pro- fessionalsim is developed as the student member becomes aware of his or her duties to all around him or her in their social and engineer- ing encounters.Meetings held every second and fourth week of each month. Texas Pre-OT Society INACTIVEThe purpose of this organization is to raise awareness of the profession of Occupational Therapy, what it entails as a profession, and what it takes to gain admission into graduate school.Major activities and events will include volunteering with Special Olympics as well as other opportunities around Austin, a shadowing program for active members with OT's in the area, and chances to network with fellow pre-OT students. UTSMEA INACTIVE1) Make available opportunities for professional development to members; 2) acquaint them with the privileges and responsibilties of the music education profession; 3) provide opportunities to become acquainted with leaders in the music education professions as gained from participation in programs and demonstrations, discussions and performing groups planned by this chapter; 4) assist the school in various projects throughout the year; 5) provide opportunity for contacts with NAfME student members of other schools.This includes guest lectures and attending a yearly Texas Music Educators Association convention.
Women in Business AssociationWomen in Business Association (WBA) strives to increase our members' knowledge of and involvement in the world of business by inviting educated and experienced women to speak and share advice with our organization. Members are encouraged to interact with our invited speakers as to promote both rapport within our organization, as well as an increased understanding of what it is like to have a business career.(1) Educate women about practical business issues (including but not limited to discrimination and/or harassment in the workplace, proper business etiquette, dress in the workplace, and creating an effective work-life balance). (2) Provide a source for networking for our members both with each other via social events, as well as with the outside business world via our speakers. (3) Establish a reputation in the Austin community through related philanthropic activities. (4) Offer an additional social outlet within UT Austin.

Women in Medicine- To promote awareness of issues pertaining to women in all medical fields. - To provide fellowship and support for those interested in these issues. - To provide programs and extra-curricular activities for members of WIM.We host guest speakers from different aspects of the health care field. We participate in numerous volunteer events, such as Kite Fest, Girl Start, and Crazy Science Extravaganza. We hold various social events, such as a winter banquet, a paintball social, and a boat party at the end of the year.
Women in PsychologyTo establish a platform for discussion about multi-cultural and women's issues in psychology and to provide an opportunity for students to interact with professionals from the mental health field. These professionals include those employed outside of the university, as well as university faculty and staff. We also make students aware of volunteer and job opportunities in psychology and related fields in the Austin area.Discussions with psychology professionals from the Austin area. Women's Transportation Seminar - Texas Student ChapterWTS aims to promote the advancement of women in the transportation industry at the academic level, through fellowship among students interested in a professional career related to transportation.Major activities include monthly meetings, seminars with guest speakers, networking/social events, field trips, and volunteer/field work.
