ACTLab Student Media Services INACTIVEOur purpose is to teach, assist, and provide multimedia resources for digital production to members of the University of Texas community.We will be giving hands-on workshops, tutorials, and seminars on digital production so that UT students may be prepared to created original and independent work. We will also allow use of our equipment, both in and out of our studio, for student projects and small productions. Anthropology Graduate Students Association INACTIVEThe priorities of the Anthropology Graduate Student Association (AGSA) are the following: a) to address major Anthropology graduate student body issues/concerns; b) to promote the professional development of its members c) promote cohesion with regular social events AGSA's General Body consists of all current graduate students of Anthropology at UT-Austin in good standing with University.There are four requirements for a graduate student to be a candidate for any of AGSA's elected positions: a) they must be an Anthropology graduate student at UT-Austin in good standing during the entire term they are running for b) they must be on campus at UT-Austin the entire term they are running for c) any term consists of two consecutive semesters (the fall and spring semester of an academic year) d) no elected representative can serve longer than two consecutive terms with the exception of those reappointed [see by-law #10] All voting to elect any representatives of AGSA or any other major AGSA decisions will happen only in AGSA General Body meetings by a simple majority. For the election of student representatives, physically present general body members can serve as a proxy for only one (1) other Anthropology graduate student who cannot attend the election meeting. The proxy must bring the absent student's ballot to the election meeting signed by or sent from the absent student's ballot to the election meeting signed by or sent from the absent student's UT email address. Online voting shall be used for decisions regarding distinguished speaker nominations for the Department Seminar Series, good dates and keynote speaker decisions for the New Directions in Anthropology (NDIA) conference, happy hour times and locations, and professional topics to focus on each semester.

Board of Advocates - Law SchoolThe Board of Advocates promotes development of practical skills in oral and written legal advocacy as well as a wide range of activities designed to provide participants realistic experience in trial and appellate advocacy, negotiation, and client contact. The Niemann Cup established by Stanley P & Claudie P. Wilson in 1984, is awarded to the top advocate of each graduating class. The winner also receives the $250.00 Wilson Honorarium. Flow TV Conference Committee INACTIVEThe committee, composed of current RTF graduate students is in charge of planning and executing a media studies conference to be held on the University campus. The conference has traditionally drawn international and national scholars to debate various media related issues. It is innovative in its structure and has demonstrated its success in past years.Special Interests involve attention to the current media landscape and the way that landscape is constantly being transformed. Radio-Television-Film Graduate Student OrganizationThe goals of the Radio Television Film Graduate Student Organization (RTFGSO) are the following: (a) to serve as a representative body for addressing major issues and concerns of all Radio-Television-Film graduate students (MA,MFA,PhD); (b) to promote professional development of its membership; (c) to promote cohesion between the media studies graduate student body and the graduate production student body through social events, as academic forums, and symposia.The current era of austerity measures and extreme budgetary cuts in education has created a political climate in which decisions of profound import to the professional and personal lives of graduate students are being made on a regular basis both institutionally and departmentally. Currently, we lack a clear channel of communication through which information on these decisions and changes can be disseminated, discussed, and negotiated. In order to begin the process of resolving this problem, we are proposing the creation of a Radio-Television-Film Graduate Student Organization, which will act as a liaison between the faculty and administration and the general graduate student body. This organization's main goal is to advocate for the interest of graduate students and to foster transparency and representation in all departmental decisions and interactions. In order to do this, RTFGSO must be formed by popular consensus, building on input and suggestions from all members of the RTF graduate student body. In order to begin this discussion, we have authored the first draft of a provisional charter and by-laws for this organization that follows this letter. This document stands as a first step in the process, but must evolve to incorporate the ideas and opinions of all graduate students.
