Purpose: Black Ink will be the reincarnation of "The Griot", UT's only African American publication. We will publish articles about issues on campus, in our community, and on a local and national level in order to unite and inform UT's Black community.
Membership: In order to become a writer on staff, students will submit a sample of their own written work to the editors in order to best determine the type of stories said student will do best at.
Functions: Our goals is to educate, inform, and unite the black community. We will publish articles weekly.

Each year, registered student organizations self-identify according to the following twelve categories:
- Educational/Departmental Organizations promote development in a particular academic area.
- Honorary Organizations recognize high-level academic achievement, and generally require a demonstrated interest in a particular career or academic discipline.
- International/Cultural Organizations foster cultural diversity and offer support to their members and the campus community.
- Legislative Student Organizations Graduate Student Assembly, Senate of College Councils and Student Government.
- Political Organizations support political parties, political issues and/or candidates who are seeking political office.
- Professional Organizations provide a preview of students' anticipated professional careers. Group activities may include speakers, field trips and volunteer or field work.
- Recreational Organizations promote sports-oriented programs and/or recreational activities.
- Religious Organizations serve as support for students of a particular religious persuasion or denomination.
- Service Organizations provide volunteers for on-campus and off-campus projects. Membership requirements generally include a commitment to work for and/or an interest in a particular cause.
- Social Organizations foster social networks among members.
- Special Interest Organizations focus on a specific issue or topic.
- Student Governance Organizations address student needs and express student views.
