Purpose: The PALS Program brings international and American students together for cultural exchange and to practice conversation skills. We usually match one international student with one American student, but other members of the UT Austin and International communities are welcome to apply.
Membership: To have contact information where they can be reached. (telephone #, email account, address, etc.)
Functions: PALS make a committment to meet at least an hour a week throughout the semester. The PALS program schedule group activitites that provide an opportunity for both matched and unmatched PALS to meet people from different countries around the world while enjoying a social setting. A7000

Each year, registered student organizations self-identify according to the following twelve categories:
- Educational/Departmental Organizations promote development in a particular academic area.
- Honorary Organizations recognize high-level academic achievement, and generally require a demonstrated interest in a particular career or academic discipline.
- International/Cultural Organizations foster cultural diversity and offer support to their members and the campus community.
- Legislative Student Organizations Graduate Student Assembly, Senate of College Councils and Student Government.
- Political Organizations support political parties, political issues and/or candidates who are seeking political office.
- Professional Organizations provide a preview of students' anticipated professional careers. Group activities may include speakers, field trips and volunteer or field work.
- Recreational Organizations promote sports-oriented programs and/or recreational activities.
- Religious Organizations serve as support for students of a particular religious persuasion or denomination.
- Service Organizations provide volunteers for on-campus and off-campus projects. Membership requirements generally include a commitment to work for and/or an interest in a particular cause.
- Social Organizations foster social networks among members.
- Special Interest Organizations focus on a specific issue or topic.
- Student Governance Organizations address student needs and express student views.
