iCAREImproving Cardiac Awareness and Research Education (ICARE) is dedicated to spreading awareness about heart disease through outreach, education and community service. ICARE also seeks to explore the relationship between genetics, lifestyle and health through research. In addition, ICARE provides pre-professional advise to those seeking a career in the medical field and guest speakers such as cardiologist will be invited to describe their own personal experiences. Finally, ICARE offers volunteering and certification opportunities as well as social activites. These include blood drives, CPR certificaion and IM sport teams allowing members to become as involved in the organization and the community as possible. Meetings are Thursdays in WEL 2.308 from 8-9pm. IEEE Communications SocietyTo spread knowledge and enthusiasm in computer communications, and foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of mankind.Hold guest lectures on computer security and communications. Participate in related regional competitions. Attend conferences in technological communications.
IEEE Computer SocietyDissemination of information via journals and transactions, tutorial help in computer-related EE courses, exposure to industry through a guest speaker program, and in general to promote professional activities among computer engineers.Tutorial program for undergraduate students taking computer courses. IEEE Power and Energy SocietyThe purpose of the institute of electrical and electronics engineers power engineering (IEEE-PES) is to promote the development of students interested in the field of power engineering. The society emphasizes renewable energy sources, but encompasses all aspects of power engineering including managment, distribution, conservation, conversion techniques, storage, and small-scale power applications.The IEEE-PES works on a variety of power-related projects and hosts speaker meetings, plant tours, and social events. Members are also given notice of power related job opportunities that come through IEEE PES corporate networks. ENS120

IgniteThe purpose of Ignite is to provide a weekend of spiritual growth to incoming freshmen through the unity of the body of Christ established on campus at UT. Indian Students AssociationEstablished in 1954, the Indian Students Association (ISA) is currently one of the largest student organizations on campus with over 150 paid members. We are an umbrella organization that aims to connect all South Asian organizations on campus and continue to spread awareness of our philanthropic ventures. Over the past year we have donated more than $10,000 to charities all over the globe. IN the Fall, we hold events such as the ISA Shaan Awards which recognizes South Asian Excellence on campus. In the Spring, we hold our annual talent competition, TAAL, which showcases UT Talent to a crowd of over 2,000 people.We are an umbrella organization that aims to connect all South Asian organizations on campus as well as bridge the gap between faculty and students.

Institute of Latin American Studies Stu. Assn. (ILASSA)The Institute of Latin American Studies Student Association is an association of students in the Institute and all University of Texas students who are interested in and have a broad range of views on Latin America. While the Primary purpose of this association is to respond to the concerns and the educational needs of ILAS students, events are open to the entire UT community. The nature of ILASSA activities is established by its members and includes educational forums, service projects, fund raisers, and social events.Organize a symposium on Latin American Studies during Spring. Provide social activities for ILASSA students.
Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)ITE's objective is: Promote the advancement of transportaion and traffic engineering by fostering the close association of students with transportation and traffic engineering through the medium of ad- dresses by competent speakers and of Chapter sponsored trips; foster the development of professional spirit; promote common interests among chapter members; encourage the expansion of facilities for transporta- tion and traffic engineering study.Normally a meeting every third week of the month with a speaker to address some topic of interest that the members want further informa- tion about. Field trips are also made to various place of interest. The Student Chapter also tries to have some student members attend the winter and summer meeting of the Texas Section of ITE. ECJ B.122

Intelligent Transportation Society of AmericaForum in which industry, government and academia meet to build a consensus on fostering, developing, and deploying intelligent vehicle highway systems. Interfraternity Council - IFCThe purpose of the IFC is to act as the governing body for all Greek Letter Social Fraternities. In conjunction with this purpose the IFC also operates as the liason for the fraternities and provides services to its member fraternities.The Interfraternity Council sponsors rush week in August of each year as well as Roundup in the Spring--a campus week of games, activities and social functions. The Interfraternity also distributes a Greek directory each year.

International Gastronomy SocietyTo cook, enjoy, and learn about foods from various cultures all around the world.The organization will be comprised of general meetings that will focus on presenting and discussing the gastronomy of a certain region. There will also be cooking socials where members will learn to cook foods of the discussed region.
International Genetically Engineered Machine TeamInternational Genetically Engineered Machine Team will represent the University of Texas at Austin at the iGEM national Jamboree each fall. Members will work under faculty advisors to design and create an organism using synthetic biology principles, and compete against other iGEM teams from universities around the world.Members will research synthetic biology principles, design synthetic organisms, and perform wet-lab experiments to create these organisms.

International Student Energy Association (ISEA)ISEA unites international students who are interested in a successful career in energy industry regardless of their majors, and provides beneficial information about their future careers. We emphasize on building connections between international students and student alumni; and we are also dedicated to create additional opportunities for international students to network with energy industry.ISEA helps international students to overcome the special difficulties of interacting with energy industry by creating more exposure. Future events might include ice cream social, football game tailgate, etc. ISEA will also invite major energy companies to general meetings to provide tailored information for international students about having a successful career in energy industry. The guest speakers will primarily be international student alumni, so their first hand experience and information will be more beneficial to our members.
International Student Friendship Ministry ISFMInternational Student Friendship Ministry's purpose is to unconditionally demonstrate Jesus' love to international students and scholars by providing them with opportunities to develop lasting friendships, meet real needs (practical, social, spiritual, etc.) and take home a few wonderful memories while at U T.Discover America groups (in the fall) are for new comers to make new friends while learning a little about America in the format of a conversational English group. Investing for Heroes INACTIVETo educate fellow students on the importance of investing in the stock market while donating the proceeds to charities that aid U.S. troops.A month and a half into the semester, the club will meet to democratically decide which stock to invest in and democratically decide what price to "sell" or in our case donate to the charity. Sponsors (in the works) will provide guest lectures periodically to further the education of members.
