UT Marketplace: Event Guidelines and Logistics
The UT Marketplace is authorized under the Regent's Rules of the University of Texas System. The Board of Regents allows the University to designate no more than two one-day periods each academic year, which is accomplished through the UT Marketplace event. The UT Marketplace is held outdoors on The University of Texas at Austin campus once during each long semester.
Regents' Rules of The University of Texas System allow for the display and distribution of printed material from tables of booths by providers of services that are commonly utilized by students, faculty, and staff of the U.T. System.
It does not allow company or organization representatives to make sales or to take orders for products or services. Additionally, in accordance with HB 85, effective September 1, 2007, it is not permissible for financial institutions or marketing entities to provide credit card application information.
Company or organization representatives may collect directory information from willing participants provided that the method of collection is clearly presented as a "mailing list" or "distribution list".
- LOCATION: Speedway Plaza on the University of Texas at Austin Campus (see UT Marketplace Map).
- DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, September 5, 2012 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
- CHECK-IN: Please check in upon arrival. A designated check-in table will be located on the east side of of Speedway Plaza. Look for the orange and white DoS kiosk.
- PARKING: The Brazos Parking Garage is located at 210 E. MLK Blvd. between Brazos and San Jacinto Streets. The UT Marketplace staff will validate parking in the Brazos Parking Garage for one vehicle per registration. If a vehicle will not fit into a garage, other accommodations can be made. Please contact Reed Fallojay at least one week prior to the event at UTAustinMarketplace@austin.utexas.edu or 512-471-3065 to make alternative parking arrangements.
- TABLES: One 6-foot table and two chairs will be provided for each $750.00 registration fee. You must provide a sign or banner for the table identifying your company/organization name. Organizations with a display larger than 6'x6' or a tent will need to be assigned specific locations and assessed an additional fee. Two organizations may split the base registration and 6-foot table if they choose. Please contact Reed Rallojay for details at UTAustinMarketplace@austin.utexas.edu or 512-471-3065.
- REPRESENTATIVES: A 6'x6' display area may only have four organization representatives total, including an area that is being shared between two organizations.
- ELECTRICITY: Vendors that require electricity for their display will be assessed an additional $50 fee. Individual generators are not permitted. Please contact Reed Rallojay for details at UTAustinMarketplace@austin.utexas.edu or 512-471-3065.
- WATER: Vendors that require a water connection for their display will be assessed an additional $50 fee. Please contact Reed Rallojay for details at UTAustinMarketplace@austin.utexas.edu or 512-471-3065.
- REFRESHMENTS: Food and beverages are available for purchase in the nearby Student Activities Center or the Jester Food Court at the corner of 21st and Speedway Streets.
- RAIN: The event will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012. If it rains then it will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012.
- REFUNDS: A $500.00 refund will be made if cancellation is received in writing by Wednesday, February 29, 2012. No refunds will be given in the event of rain.
- ACCESSIBILITY: Student Activities will do its best to honor special accommodation requests. Information on wheelchair accessible routes will be provided upon request.
