Program Safety Education ServicesStudent Activities' Program Safety Education Services (PSES) provides educational programs, resources and services to foster a student organization culture that thinks proactively about student safety and well-being during co-curricular activities and how to manage potential risks. We partner with students, authorized representatives, student leaders, registered student organization advisers, DoS staff and others to help prevent or minimize physical, psychological, financial, reputational, environmental and other potential harms associated with student organization activities.
At UT Austin, PSES uses a "Facilitator Model" that balances the rights and responsibilities of both students and the University. This model seeks to create shared responsibility for student safety. Neither the University nor students should have sole responsibility for student safety and risk management. As facilitators, our job is to define appropriate boundaries (university policy, the law, etc.) and give students the ability to make choices. In this model, the following must occur:
