Summer School Orientation FAQs

When is Summer School Orientation?
Summer School Orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

Do I need to register for orientation?
Yes. New or readmitted students admitted for the summer term should plan to attend orientation. Attendance is not mandatory, but students are strongly encouraged to attend as there will be information provided that will prepare them for registration.

How can I access a schedule of events for Summer School Orientation?
A schedule of events will be provided in late March.

Is a fee required to attend Summer School Orientation?
No additional fee is required to attend, but you will need to register for Summer School Orientation.

Class Registration
Registration for the summer session; students who register on May 29−30, 2012 will register for all classes to be taken during the summer session. To complete registration, undergraduate students must pay tuition and fees by 5 p.m., on May 30, 2012. Students may view the Summer 2012 Course Schedule online at http://registrar.utexas.edu in March.

When do summer classes begin?
Thursday, May 31, 2012

Are housing accommodations and meals provided?
No. However, if you have a confirmed Housing contract, you may want to consider moving into your room before orientation. Contact the Division of Housing and Food Services for more information. University residence halls officially open on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 9 a.m. For more information call the Division of Housing and Food Service at 512-471-3136.

Is parking provided during Summer School Orientation?
No. Parking is available at a hourly rate per entry at the UT Austin garages. Specific information regarding UT Parking Garages and hourly rates can be found at www.utexas.edu/parking.

Will I be able to take placement tests?
Placement and credit by examination are offered during Summer School Orientation. If you need to sign up for placement tests or have questions regarding placement testing, contact CTL/Student Testing Services or telephone at 512-232-2662.

What if I need accommodations due to a disability?
If you have a documented disability and require special assistance during orientation testing, contact Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) at 512-471-6259 and CTL-Student Testing Services at 512-232-2662 at least two weeks before your assigned session to make arrangements.

How do I register?
A registration link will appear on this page when registration for Summer School Orientation becomes available.
