Summer School Orientation
Do I need to register for orientation? If you are a new or readmitted student and you applied for and were accepted for the summer term, you should plan to attend orientation on Monday, June 2, 2008. The session begins at 9 a.m., in the Texas Union Ballroom, 3.202. Attendance at Summer School Orientation is not required, but students are strongly encouraged to attend as there will be information provided that will prepare you for registration.
How can I access a schedule of events for Summer School Orientation? For program information, you may download a pdf version of the Fast Facts and the UT Austin 2008 Summer School Orientation Information publication at www.utorientation.com. The Fast Facts is a quick reference of the daily schedule, including times, program names and locations. The UT Austin 2008 Summer School Orientation Information publication offers detailed information about the Orientation program, including program times and descriptions, as well as testing and registration information.
Is a fee required to attend Summer School Orientation? No additional fee is required to attend.
Are housing accommodations and meals provided? No. However, if you have a confirmed Housing contract, you may want to consider moving into your room before orientation. Contact the Division of Housing and Food Services for more information.
Will I be able to take placement tests? If you need to sign up for placement tests or have questions regarding placement testing, contact DIIA, Division of Instructional Innovation and Assessment's Web site at www.utexas.edu/academic/mec or by telephone at 512-232-2662. If you need special assistance during orientation testing, contact DIIA, Division of Instructional Innovation and Assessment Office at 512-232-2662 no less than two weeks before your assigned session to make arrangements.
