Spring Orientation FAQs

Do I need to register for orientation?
If you are a new or readmitted student and you were accepted for the spring semester, you should plan to attend orientation on Monday, January 11, 2010. You can register for Spring Orientation by filling out the form on the Spring Orientation Registration Page. The session begins at 8 a.m., on Monday, January 11, 2010 in the Texas Union Building (UNB), Ballroom (3.202). Attendance at Spring Orientation is not required, but students are strongly encouraged to attend as there will be information provided that will prepare them for registration.

How can I access a schedule of events for Spring Orientation?
For program information, you may download a pdf version of the 2010 Spring Orientation Fast Facts (pdf) and 2010 Spring New Student Guide (pdf), quick references for program description, meeting places and times.

Is a fee required to attend Spring Orientation?
No additional fee is required to attend, but you will need to register for Spring Orientation.

Are housing accommodations and meals provided?
No. However, if you have a confirmed Housing contract, you may want to consider moving into your room before orientation. Contact the Division of Housing and Food Services for more information.

Will I be able to take placement tests?
If you need to sign up for placement tests or have questions regarding placement testing, contact the DIIA/Student Testing Services Web site at www.utexas.edu/academic/mec or by telephone at 512-232-2662.

If you need special assistance during orientation testing, contact DIIA/Student Testing Services at 512-232-2662 no less than two weeks before your assigned session to make arrangements.
