Family Orientation Schedule

Family Orientation Check-In: 8-10 a.m.
Texas Union Building (UNB) Ballroom 3.202
Check-In for Family Orientation will be in the Texas Union (UNB) Ballroom 3.202. Look for Orientation Advisors to direct you from Jester Center to Family Orientation Check-In.
Before you leave your student at Orientee Check-In, arrange a meeting time and place as your schedule and your student's schedule will not overlap until the barbecue and Resource Fair at 5 p.m.
Welcome: 10:30 a.m.-Noon
Texas Union Building (UNB) Ballroom 3.202
This session includes an official welcome, brought to you by the Office of the Dean of Students and Texas Parents.
Lunch: Noon-1 p.m.
There are a number of places on or near campus where you can enjoy lunch. You may purchase meals from a food outlet in the Texas Union Building (UNB) or visit an eatery near campus. Your student will be unable to meet you for lunch. Students are required to attend a meeting that conflicts with your scheduled lunch break.
Meet the Academic Colleges: 1:15-2:15 p.m
Locations: TBA
Meet with representatives from the college in which your student is enrolled. Students will be receiving similar academic information during their orientation. Please note that some college meetings are in different locations on campus. Please take time to plan accordingly. Orientation Advisors will be available to assist you in finding the meetings.
Academic Expectations: 2:30-3 p.m.

A representative from the School of Undergraduate Studies will address the academic expectations of new students. Students will be receiving similar academic information during their orientation.
Concurrent Sessions for Family Members

These sessions give family members an opportunity to meet with representatives from important university offices. Students may elect to participate in sessions on each of these topics during their orientation.

Etter-Harbin Alumni Center (UTX)
This will be the only opportunity for family members to spend time with their students, as students will have a separate schedule for the day. In conjunction with the Orientation Barbecue, representatives from various campus offices and programs will be available to meet and talk to you regarding student services.
Student Organization Fair: 5-6:30 p.m.
Etter-Harbin Alumni Center (UTX) and Red McCombs Red Zone Food Court
Representatives from various student organizations will be available to meet and talk to you regarding student services.
Health Professions Information Session: 6-7:30 p.m.

This presentation is for new students and family members of new students who are interested in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, optometry, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies. Information about Nursing is presented by the UT Austin School of Nursing in a separate session.
