Fall Orientation FAQs

When is Fall Orientation?
Fall Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22, through Thursday August 23, 2012.

Is Orientation mandatory for freshman?
Yes. Fall freshman admits are required to attend an orientation.

When can I register for Fall Orientation?
Registration will open up at www.utorientation.com starting July 9 through August 19, 2012.

How can I access a schedule of events for Fall Orientation?
A schedule of events will be available in early July.

Is a fee required to attend Fall Orientation?
No additional fee is required to attend, but you will need to register if you plan to attend Fall Orientation.

Class Registration
Registration for the fall semester for new and readmitted students who have not yet registered may register on August 23. To complete registration, undergraduate students must pay tuition by 5 p.m. on August 28. Students may view the Fall 2012 Course Schedule online at registrar.utexas.edu.

When do fall classes begin?
Wednesday, August 29, 2012.

Are housing accommodations and meals provided?
No. University Residence Halls open for the fall semester on Friday, August 24, at 9 a.m. Early check-in begins on Tuesday, August 22, at 4 p.m.

Is parking provided during Fall Orientation?
No. Parking is available at a hourly rate per entry at the UT Austin garages. Specific information regarding UT Parking Garages and hourly rates can be found at www.utexas.edu/parking.

Will I be able to take placement tests?

 Placement and credit by examination are offered during Fall Orientation. If you need to sign up for placement tests or have questions regarding placement testing, contact CTL/Student Testing Services or telephone at 512-232-2662.

What if I need accommodations due to a disability?
If you have a documented disability and require special assistance during orientation testing, contact Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) at 512-471-6259 and CTL-Student Testing Services at 512-232-2662 at least two weeks before your assigned session to make arrangements.

How do I register, view, or cancel my registration?
Registration is closed for Fall 2012 Orientation. A registration link will appear on this page when registration for Fall 2012 Orientation becomes available.
