The Austin Lawyer Referral Service

Legal Services for Students ("LSS") is delighted to announce that we have reached an agreement with the Austin Lawyer Referral Service ("ALRS") that could offer great benefit to students from The University of Texas at Austin. In some situations, LSS cannot advise students because of a conflict of interest with other students, the university or because of university or office rules stating which types of cases we can accept. In these instances, LSS wants our students to be able to obtain inexpensive but effective legal help outside of our office.

Effective June 1, 2008, all currently enrolled students who need this type of help will be referred to the ALRS. They will discuss the basics of your case and refer you to a local attorney who will be qualified in the field of law in which you require help. Most importantly, the lawyer will meet with you WITHOUT COST for the initial thirty minute consultation. If you need assistance beyond that, then you will have to either employ that attorney or choose another to work with you. Be sure to tell them that you have been referred by LSS or ALRS will not know that you are eligible for this great offer of valuable free legal advice.
