In some situations, Legal Services for Students (LSS) cannot advise students because of a conflict of interest with other students or the university, or because university or office rules limiting which types of cases LSS can accept. In these instances, LSS partners with the Austin Lawyer Referral Service (ALRS) to ensure that students are able to obtain inexpensive but effective legal help outside of our office.
All currently enrolled students in need of this type of help are referred to the ALRS. They will discuss the basics of your case and refer you to a local attorney who is qualified in the field of law in which you require help. Most importantly, the lawyer will meet with you free of charge for the initial 30-minute consultation. If you need assistance beyond that, you will have to either employ that attorney or choose another to work with you. To be eligible for this great offer of valuable free legal advice, be sure to tell ALRS that you were referred to them by LSS.
If you have questions, contact LSS at 512-471-7796 or the Austin Lawyer Referral Service at 512-472-8303 or www.austinlrs.com.
