Community Legal Resources
- Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas (www.austinlrs.com; 472-8303) Provides you with the name of an attorney who practices in the area of law in which you have a problem. There is a $20 fee for one 30 minute consultation. The initial consultation is free for personal injury, criminal law, workers' comp, social security disability appeals, and bankruptcy cases.
- Match Program (https://austinlrs.com/additional-support-programs/; 472-8303) Through this program, attorneys have agreed to take family law matters, guardianship cases, and simple will draftings referred to them at a reduced rate for those who are eligible. The Match Program was created to help moderate-income Central Texans find affordable legal assistance. Eligibility for the program is based upon type of legal matter, applicant income and assets, and availability of participating lawyers. Clients are screened initially through Lawyer Referral Service for income eligibility and informed of the applicable legal fees. There is a $20 consultation fee for the first 30 minutes of the client's appointment with the attorney. The MATCH attorneys may ask for a retainer fee up front and can further screen the client if he/she chooses.
- Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (www.trla.org; 888-988-9996) This program provides legal assistance in civil cases to eligible low-income persons in the areas of housing, consumer protection, family, and public benefits law. Call between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Free Evening Legal Clinics (476-5550) Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid sponsor free evening legal clinics twice a week. Both clinics are from 6-7 p.m., but schedules may vary, so please call to confirm times and locations. You can receive advice on civil matters only – advice cannot be given on criminal or immigration matters. Clients who do not meet financial requirements to be represented by a legal services attorney will receive free advice on how to proceed.

- Austin Dispute Resolution Center (www.austindrc.org; 512-371-0033) The Dispute Resolution Center is an independent, nonprofit organization that provides and promotes accessible, high-quality dispute resolution services for all people in Travis County and the surrounding Austin, TX areas. Client fees are never a barrier to services and are reduced or waived when appropriate.
- UT Project on Conflict Resolution (https://commstudies.utexas.edu/research/ut-project-conflict-resolution; 471-1950) Available at no charge to all students attending any higher education campus in Austin. You do not need to be a current student to take advantage of their resources.
