The Texas Leadership Summit is a FREE campus-wide conference for all students at The University of Texas at Austin. • Emerging Leadership
  • Unifying Campus
  • Civic Engagement and Volunteerism

Goals of the Texas Leadership Summit

  • To provide students with concrete ideas, concepts, skills and tools related to leadership development.
  • To motivate students to take their new knowledge back to their organizations and social networks.
  • To empower students with the personal tools and leadership skills to implement in their academic lives and future careers.

Note: In order to claim an incentive students are required to complete a Payee Information Form (PIF) and show a picture ID. This form is completed for every student who receives even in-kind incentives. The form includes obtaining their SSN and goes to accounting for tax reporting purposes. If for some reason the student cannot complete a PIF, then they are automatically ineligible for the participant incentive.

Keynote Speaker

Photo of Sam Davidson Sam Davidson is a published author, professional speaker and social entrepreneur who helps people discover and do what matters. In 2011, he was named as one of the Top 10 New Nonprofit Voices by The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

When he was a college student, Sam tried to pack as much as possible into his four years. This is why he once dressed up as a pirate for a three-year-old's birthday party, why he decided to emcee a campus-wide song and dance competition, how he almost convinced his pledge class to buy an old bus and why he attend more chapel services than anyone else (and got paid for it).

When he was 23, Sam decided the corporate world wasn't for him and that he wanted to use his talents to make a bigger impact on the world. He then began Cool People Care, which has connected over 2,500 charities with people who want to make an impact. Cool People Care's merchandise line has also raised over $125,000 for some of the most important causes in the world.

This idea—that anyone can lead others by serving their community—is what gets Sam up each day (that and lots of coffee and too many Power Bars). To that end, Sam has written three books, all of which help people understand what matters most and to focus on building a life around it. http://www.campuspeak.com/speakers/davidson
