Office of the Dean of Students (DoS)
University of Texas Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI)
Graduate Intern – Summer 2013 (unpaid)

SUMMARY

Purpose of the Position: To support the University of Texas Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI) in preparation for the 2013-2014 academic year.

PROJECTS

  • Assist the LEI team in promotion efforts, particularly through tabling various events during summer orientation sessions
  • Research and create leadership training presentation modules and facilitation guides on a variety of leadership topics;
  • Research and develop resources for first-year student leadership development;
  • Support of LEI programs and initiatives through preparation and development for the fall semester;
  • Research and identify potential sponsorship or donation opportunities; and
  • Assist with summer leadership training requests to various groups on campus.
  • Assist with other relevant projects as needed

SUPERVISION

Received: Weekly meetings and general direction from the LEI Coordinator of Leadership Development.

EDUCATION

Required: Must remain in good standing with their university as a Graduate student.

EXPERIENCE

A combination of 4 long semesters as a student leader (including experiences as an undergraduate and/or graduate student) and planning and implementing leadership programs. Experience with and commitment to social justice issues. Demonstrated effectiveness working with diverse student populations. Professional demeanor. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

BENEFITS

LEI Staff will work with the graduate intern and their institution to assist the individual in receiving academic credit for the internship, if desired. An applicant should coordinate with their academic department to determine individual internship credit requirements. The graduate intern is an unpaid position. It does not provide a salary, stipend or in-state tuition voucher.
