Required fields are marked with an *

The Swing Out Application Process

  1. Any student organization that is currently registered, active, and has no bars with Student Activities is eligible to apply for a Swing Out Award.
  2. Organizations must apply for only ONE of the primary categories, but may choose to apply for as many special categories as they wish.

Organizations should place themselves into the category they feel best represents the strengths of their organization over the year, regardless of the type of organization they are registered as with Student Activities. For example, a group registered as a "spirit" group may apply as a "service" group for the purposes of the Swing Out Awards.
  3. Each category (including the special categories) has several specific questions. Organizations must answer the category-specific questions to be considered for the award in that category.
  4. In reviewing applications, the University of Texas Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI) members will consider only those activities an organization participated in which fulfill the organization's mission statement and the scope of the category to which it applied. LEI members will review the ways in which groups have fulfilled their goals during the past academic year and how organizations have used their resources.
  5. One optional information session will be provided on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 5 p.m. in SSB 3.406 to clarify any questions related to the Swing Out Award application and/or process.
  6. Organizations are encouraged to visit the University of Texas Leadership and Ethics Institute section of the Greek, Leadership and Intercultural Education Web site at www.swingoutawards.com for additional information about the Swing Out Awards.

In order to receive this award, the organization must be in good standing with the Office of the Dean of Students. Good standing status is granted to organizations that are not under disciplinary penalty prohibiting registration, have no financial bars, and have completed the annual mandatory safety education training coordinated by DOS (IF required by the Office of Student Activities in the Office of the Dean of Students).

*I acknowledge that I have read the above information and understand the necessary requirements for winning a Swing Out Award.
