Evening of the Stars

Evening of the Stars is an annual celebration held to recognize and honor student organizations for the accomplishments experienced and contributions made throughout the academic year. All finalists in each award category are invited to bring 5-6 organization members to the celebration where the Swing Out Award winners are announced for the first time. Award winners are recognized with trophies, t-shirts, banners and a monetary award for the organization.

Want to host the biggest night of the year for UT's student organizations?
Audition to be the Master of Ceremonies for Evening of the Stars 2011! Auditions will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 7 p.m. in SSB G1.310 (Glenn Maloney Room). If you or someone you know would be interested in serving as M.C., please email UTLeadershipandEthicsInstitute@austin.utexas.edu or join us on March 31.

Auditions will be on a first come, first serve basis and will last about 10 minutes long. The components of the audition will include:

  • An original (2-3 minute) audition piece designed to introduce yourself and the event. M.C. candidates will be evaluated on creativity and charisma in this section.
  • Reading from a provided script. M.C. candidates will be evaluated on presentation skills and in this section.
  • Responding to a given scenario. M.C. candidates will be evaluated on tact, professionalism, and appropriateness in this section.
