Leadership Opportunities
The Greek Life and Intercultural Education area within the Office of the Dean of Students is responsible for facilitating leadership development programs for chapter officers and the general membership of fraternities and sororities. Student committees composed of men and women within the Greek community coordinate many of the programs. From new member programs to leadership retreats to diversity education, Greek Life and Intercultural Education strives to educate students about critical issues facing the campus community and to enhance the students' leadership skills and experiences. Greek Honor Societies
Gamma Sigma Alpha
National Greek academic honorary that recognizes students in Greek-lettered organizations with a 3.5 or greater cumulative grade point average in their junior or senior year, or who obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or better during any semester of their junior or senior year.
Order of Omega
Greek leadership honorary that recognizes juniors and seniors who have displayed outstanding scholarship, involvement and leadership within the campus community.
Leadership Development Programs
The CHANGE Institute
Held in the fall, fraternity and sorority members apply and are selected to attend this weekend institute that focuses on critical issues relating to diversity, including racism and heterosexism.
Greek 101
Program where fraternity and sorority new members have the opportunity to hear information that challenges them to accept the responsibilities of being a member of our Greek community.
Greek Leadership Class (EDP 369k)
This three-hour class is an upper division elective that is taught through the Department of Educational Psychology (EDP 369K) each semester. Fraternity and sorority members who take this class are eager to learn more about the critical issues leaders face in the campus community.
Greek Leadership Retreat
The annual Greek Leadership Retreat, which is held in the spring semester, is designed to assist current and potential leaders in the Greek community in developing and refining their leadership skills.
Greek Think Tank
This diverse group meets monthly for discussions that result in new directions for the UT Greek community.
