How to register for recruitment with the University Panhellenic Council (UPC)

Recruitment registration begins on May 1, 2008 and ends August 19, 2008. Any registration form received before this time will be returned. If you use our online recruiting registration, you receive a $10 discount off the regular registration fee of $80. In order to complete the online application, you will need a digital or scanned photo of yourself for identification purposes. All registrations postmarked after the early registration deadline of July 31st will be subject to a $85 registration fee.

Beginning in Summer 2008, paper registration forms will be available or upon request of Greek Life and Intercultural Education at 512-471-9700. Please do not send resumes or additional documentation. Send the completed form and one wallet-size photo by July 31, 2008 along with your registration fee (check or money order only, made payable to University Panhellenic Council) to:

Academic Year and Summer Contacts

The following rules apply to any potential new member, who is a high school senior or junior, or within her first year as a University of Texas student.

Silence

Definition: Silence means no conversation or contact between potential new members and sorority members, alumnae or chapter representatives except at specified Panhellenic recruitment events. Potential new members may not discuss sorority membership with other potential new members.

Reason: Silence allows potential new members to make decisions free from outside pressures and opinions of others.

Rules: Silence begins at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2008. Potential new members may not attend fraternity parties. Potential new members may not receive anything from any representative of a sorority until they have accepted their bids. Sorority representatives may not issue oral invitations to parties or to pledge.

Silence Ends: A potential new member who registers for formal recruitment is on silence until 3:00 p.m. on Bid Day even if she withdraws from
