The Cesar E. Chavez Statue

Mission Statement

Statue Project The University of Texas at Austin community is honoring the life and legacy of Cesar E. Chavez. He was a civil rights and labor leader whose work as a spiritual figure reflected his commitment to social change. Cesar Chavez is recognized as one of the most heroic figures of our time. The bronze statue honoring him will be placed in the West Mall area. This is a gateway to the University, and it serves as a gathering space for students and other members of our community. This place continues to be associated with student activism. The West Mall best exemplifies the ideals and beliefs that Cesar Chavez held in high regard, and his symbolic sculpture in this location will serve as a reminder of the power of one person’s voice.
