Exhibition: Tracing the History of the United Farm Workers Movement.There will be a free screening of Rick Tejada-Flores and Ray Telles’ documentary “The Fight in the Fields” along with commentary from UT students. Hosted by The Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection. Exhibition will be located in Sid Richardson Hall (SRH 1.109). |

Event: Unveiling and Dedication of the César Chávez Statue.This event will present the first ever Chicana(o)/Latina(o) statue on The University of Texas at Austin campus. César Chávez, a noted civil rights leader, labor organizer and farm worker, was selected by the UT student body in 2002 to be honored with a bronze statue. This statue will serve as a permanent symbol that will continue to educate the campus community and visitors about the life and legacy of César E. Chávez. Event will be held in the Main Mall. |

Reception: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of César Chávez.The reception will honor the work of César Chávez, current and former César Chávez Statue Committee members, sculptor Pablo Eduardo, UT students and student leaders, and many others who helped bring this project to fruition. Katy Young and other graduate student members of the “Living Newspaper” program will present a documentary theater performance addressing the current immigrant workers' rights debate.
